MedCom mission
MedCom is an Inter-Mediterranean symposium on Public
Relations which aims at gathering public relations
practitioners, university professors, researchers
and students interested in sharing ideas, new
perspectives, empirical findings or case studies
related to the field of communication and public
relations applied in the Euro-Med area.
MedCom is also addressed to institutional relations
and corporate communication professionals as well as
stakeholders who consider communication and public
relations as a fundamental strategic lever in
building dialogue among people and countries, in
enhancing institutional relations and in reinforcing
corporate strategies in the Euro-Med area.
Organising committee
CERPMED - Study and Research Center on Public
Relations in the Mediterranean Area, is a not for
profit organization that aims at analyzing,
monitoring and developing Public Relations and
Corporate Communication practice in the
Mediterranean area. CERPMED also intends to create
a network among public relations, institutional
relations and corporate communication professionals
as well as university professors and those
stakeholders who consider communication and public
relations as a fundamental strategic lever in
building dialogue among people and countries in the
Euro-Med area. The mission lies in the desire to
study, analyze and support relational dynamics
between the different social, political, economic
and cultural stakeholders belonging to the
Mediterranean countries. To carry out its goals
CERPMED has identified several actions, including
the organization of MEDCOM, the annual
Inter-Mediterranean Symposium on Public Relations.

MedCom history
2009
The first MedCom Symposium was held in Catania the
13th and 14th November 2009 at the University of
Catania. The theme of the first edition was “Public
Relations as support to the economic development of
the Mediterranean countries”. It gathered
practitioners, university professors, corporate and
public sector professionals, stakeholders and
students belonging to 13 different Euro-Med
countries.
2010
The second
MedCom was held in Catania the 19th and 20th November
2010 at the University
of Catania.
The theme chosen for MedCom 2010 was “Local systems
in the Euro-Med area. Competition or cooperation?
The role of Public Relations”.
